When to use which

Most stores running both: Klaviyo for email + multi-channel marketing, CartGhost for WhatsApp cart recovery.

Use CartGhost if:

  • You want WhatsApp cart recovery, fast, without onboarding a full marketing platform.
  • Your audience is in a high-WhatsApp market: LATAM, EU, MENA, India, Southeast Asia.
  • You want flat, predictable pricing that doesn't scale with your list size.
  • You already have email handled (Klaviyo, Mailchimp, etc.) and just want a focused tool to plug in.
  • You want conversational AI that answers product / shipping / sizing questions directly in the WhatsApp thread.

Use Klaviyo if:

  • You need a full marketing platform: newsletters, winbacks, post-purchase, segmentation.
  • Your primary audience is email-native (older demographics, US, B2B).
  • You want predictive analytics, AI segmentation, and deep customer data infrastructure.
  • You run multi-channel campaigns across email, SMS, push, and want them orchestrated in one place.
  • Your team already knows Klaviyo's flow builder.

Many Shopify merchants run both — Klaviyo handling email and multi-channel campaigns, CartGhost handling WhatsApp cart recovery. The two tools don't currently integrate directly; the recommended setup is to pause Klaviyo's abandoned cart email flow when CartGhost is installed, or stagger the timing so WhatsApp fires first and email is the fallback.

FAQ

Is CartGhost a replacement for Klaviyo?

No. CartGhost is a focused single-job tool for WhatsApp cart recovery. Klaviyo is a multi-channel marketing platform. Most CartGhost users run it alongside Klaviyo or another email tool.

Can I run both on the same Shopify store?

Yes. The recommended setup is to keep Klaviyo running email (newsletters, winback, post-purchase) and let CartGhost handle WhatsApp cart recovery. To avoid double-messaging, most merchants pause Klaviyo's abandoned cart email flow when CartGhost is installed.

How does pricing actually compare?

Klaviyo scales by active profile count: $20/mo at 500 profiles, $1,380/mo at 100,000 profiles for email plans (SMS and WhatsApp on top, credit-based). CartGhost is flat: Free or $29/mo regardless of list size. WhatsApp messaging fees are billed by Meta directly in either case.

Does CartGhost support email or SMS?

SMS is on the public roadmap. Email is not planned — CartGhost is intentionally focused on WhatsApp.

Will CartGhost work for my market?

Best in markets with high WhatsApp adoption (LATAM, EU, MENA, India, Southeast Asia, Brazil). In US/Canada, where consumer WhatsApp use is lower, recovery rates may be below typical benchmarks. We'd rather you know before installing.
